Any extreme diet is a fad diet. Any weight loss is temporary because most of the weight loss will be fluid and lean muscle. However these diets do not burn much fat.

Our bodies need a variety of foods because that is the only way we can consume all the nutrients our bodies need. When we eliminate entire food groups our bodies will be deprived of vital vitamins and minerals. To cut out one or more food groups is setting yourself up for disaster and harmful to your overall health.

The goal is to create a balanced nutritional plan which allows you to eat foods from all the food groups so that you will receive all the required nutrients your body needs.

The Four Basic Food Groups:

Grains, cereals, breads, pasta

Vegetables and fruits

Dairy, milk, cheese, yogurt

Meat, protein, poultry, fish

In a study that lasted for 12 years 65,000 women it was shown that the women who included more grains in their diet weighed less than the women who consumed fewer grains per day.
