The Recommended Daily Servings For A Balanced Diet

Grains: the recommended daily amount is approximately 6 ounces per day

The reason why you don’t combine your fruit and vegetable intake is that you need to eat a specific amount from each food.

Vegetables: 2 ½ cups per day

Fruits: 2 cups per day

Dairy: 3 cups per day

Meat and Beans: 5 ½ ounces per day

The Atkins Diet

This diet has been known to be effective for weight loss. Subjects who have participated in this program usually see quick results within a week. Participants have been known to lose between 3 and 5 pounds straight out of the gate by increasing the amount of meat in their daily diet.

Why meat?

Meat is quite filling so it acts as an appetite suppressant which causes you to eat less. Meat also promotes fat burning in the absence of sugar. Because you are restricting your carbohydrate intake you are not eating large amounts of sugar so you will burn fat.
