How Much You Move

Let’s face it if you want to lose weight you must increase your physical activity level. You simply cannot avoid it if you want to lose weight and keep it off. Exercise is the only way you can burn fat and expend calories. If you want to tummy or love handles to go you have to exercise.

Exercise can be something as simple as walking. Don’t feel you have to hit the gym to burn the pounds or be on a treadmill for hours to get the type of physical activity you need.

Think of it this way; exercise three times a week for approximately 30 minutes. If you have exercised in a while you will need to work up to this but the benefits are so profound that exercising should be one of your top goals. Two benefits of exercising are:

 It will reinvigorate and energizes you.

 As a result of exercising your brain will release endorphins which

will make you feel good. In addition to that a brisk walk will lower your stress and help you be relaxed.

When you exercise your body repairs and builds muscle and any additional muscle will increase your metabolism. Don’t think that you have to have a chiselled body you just need to add lean muscle mass so your metabolism will burn fat. This kind of muscle mass will be toned and attractive not bulky and huge. The purpose of exercise is to create more lean muscle tissue to burn more fat.

As mentioned earlier you don’t have to go to the gym to exercise. Walking, swimming, biking, hiking, and jogging are great for raising your heart rate, building lean muscle mass and burning calories.
