Darkness

Darkness again upon me preys

Nights of hell and very short days

So many fears, so many tears

Multiplied throughout the years

Just what good is it to stay ‘round

Might be better underground

Exhaustion plagues day by day

Wisest course may be to go away

Day after day of sultry gray plight

Night after night devoid of light

Leaving me sad, dismay comes back

Darkness turns my thoughts to black

A hat of black, a cloak of grey

Seeking color along my merry way

Variations so sweet and pure

They will elevate my mood for sure
