YoYo Dieting & Weight Loss

This kind of eating pattern confuses the delicate balance of hormones in the thyroid gland which governs your metabolic rate. When your metabolic rate slows down, you will hold on to fat rather than losing it.

The key to fat loss is to eat a balanced healthy diet, combined with a sensible exercise programme which is suitable for your current fitness level.

Your intake of food needs to be less than your daily requirement but still provide you with a good balance of essential nutrients. I don’t recommend calorie counting. A  calorie or Kcal is simply a measure of the amount of heat a food will release when burnt as fuel by the body. It tells you nothing about the nutritional content of a food and how it will nourish the body.

What is a balanced diet?

A balanced diet will contain complex carbohydrates, proteins, fruit, vegetables, and water in appropriate amounts. The ratio of proteins and carbohydrates will vary from person to person according to their individual metabolism, current weight and fitness levels.

This is covered in detail in the Diet for Health and Wellbeing Programme due for release in 2012. The programme will look in detail at motivation, food intolerance, Glycaemic Load and will give you a guaranteed programme to follow along with recipes, videos and more.

The quality of your food is vitally important to make sure that you get a wide range of the nutrients your body needs.
