Chapter 110

9th September

Angela, Elliot, Paul and Robin sat down in the West Wing refectory for their usual morning meeting to compare notes about their dreams of the previous night.

During the preceding six weeks, their experiments with Magic Dust had confirmed that it promoted dreams that predicted the future. The subject matter of these dreams was unpredictable, however, and had provided no obvious leads to the locations of Dean Hemmingway or Maria Galveston – neither to the identity of the Pentagon WAR operative.

‘There was one thing I dreamed last night that at least related to this situation,’ Elliot began. ‘Paul and I were looking back over the CCTV footage from one of the cameras that had been in the vicinity of the safe house where Rodriguez was killed. I can’t remember what we saw, but we thought that it might be significant.’

‘That seems worth a try,’ said Angela. ‘We’re getting very close to the thirteenth of September. We have to follow any lead. Did anyone else dream anything?’ she asked, looking at the others.

All but Robin shook their heads. ‘I dreamed again about digging a hole in Constitution Gardens,’ said Robin, ‘but I can’t see what that’s got to do with anything.’

‘OK,’ said Angela. ‘Well, I guess it’s worth reviewing that CCTV material. All we can then do is take more Magic Dust tonight and hope we get some luck.’
