Chapter 25

The sun rose in New Mexico and Carter checked out of the motel room.

Ten minutes later, Carter had Sabrina the woman and the 101 Dalmatians puppies were fed and went inside RV.

Carter drove the RV down Interstate I-10 heading west going eighty-five miles per hour.

Fifteen minutes later, Scarface checked out of his motel room and walked to the Hummer smoking his morning Cuban cigar breakfast.

It was hours later and the rest of the day hot and quiet for everybody while they ventured down Interstate I-10 in Arizona.

Scarface raced the Hummer down I-10 in Arizona.  He listened to another radio station for any breaking news about the evidence of government corruption being found.   He didn’t hear anything about that radio station and was pleased.

Back in Bel-Air, Senator Cheatham paced around his den with Senators Dewey and Howe following his heels.

“Where the heck is Scarface and why won’t he answer his cell phone?” Senator Cheatham said while he looked at the viewfinder of his cell phone where the “Caller Unavailable” message displayed.

Down in the basement, Alvin was still tied to the chair in the office.  He looked scared to death while he was forced to watch the 1979 original version of The Amityville Horror movie.  The 2005 remake version of this movie was going to play next.

Back in Arizona, Carter raced the RV down Interstate I-10 20 miles east of Phoenix.

Not far behind the RV, Scarface raced his Hummer down Interstate I-10 puffing on a Cuban cigar.

A few minutes later, Scarface raced the Hummer down the Interstate in the left hand lane.  He passed Carter’s RV while the RV turned down an exit ramp to get off the Interstate for another fuel and bathroom stop.

Back at Precinct 13 in Remakewood, Chief Hightower walked into his office where he saw a stack of papers about six inches thick in his “Very Promising Government Corruption Leads” in-box on his desk.

“Ah man,” Chief Hightower said while he walked over to the other side of his office.

He grabbed a small step stool and walked back to his desk.

He placed the step stool by his desk and climbed up it.  He grabbed all the papers out of his “Very Promising Government Corruption Leads” in-box.

He climbed down the step stool with the papers in hand.

He walked the stack of papers over to another area of his office.  Once there, he opened up a “Paper Shredder” chute door and shoved the papers inside.

He closed the chute door and flipped the “Shred Evidence” switch on the wall.  Chief Hightower had a satisfying grin on his face when he heard the grinding sounds of the paper being turned into spaghetti.

Outside the rear of the Precinct 13 building was staged a large dumpster filled with shredded paper and other items.  A grinding sound was emitted out of a chute opening in the rear wall of the Precinct.  Globs of more shredded spaghetti paper shot out of the chute and rained into the dumpster.

It was hours later in the eastern part of California.

Scarface raced the Hummer down Interstate I-10 at 100 miles per hour while he puffed on a Cuban cigar.

Twenty miles behind Scarface, Carter drove the RV down Interstate I-10 at 70 miles per hour.  It finally sunk in Carter’s head to drive slower to save on fuel costs.  He wanted to cry when he realized he placed seven hundred and eighty-three dollars of debt on his credit card.

It was later that evening and Scarface pulled the Hummer off Interstate I-10 when he was getting close to Los Angeles.  He also listened to another radio station for any breaking news about the evidence of government corruption being found.  He didn’t hear anything about that on that radio.

He pulled into a Famous Stars convenience store/gas station and immediately drove up to the gas pumps.

After Scarface filled the Hummer up with fuel, he rushed over to the pay phone on the corner of the convenience store.  He made a phone call.

“It’s me,” Scarface said into the phone.

“Where the hell are you?  I’ve been calling and calling and you don’t answer your stupid cell phone,” Senator Cheatham yelled from the pay phone.

“Sorry, my cell phone got stolen,” Scarface replied.

“You still haven’t answered my first question.  Where the hell are you?” Senator Cheatham yelled from the phone.

“I’m about twenty miles outside LA, and I haven’t seen hide or hair of Carter and his ugly mutt,” Scarface replied.

“Then where the hell is he?” Senator Cheatham yelled from the pay phone.

Scarface held the receiver away from his ear until the Senator was finished yelling.  “I’m thinking he’s on his way back to Remakewood.  I’ve been listening to the radio stations and there’s no breaking news report about that evidence.  I’m also thinking your butler had some contact that wanted this evidence.  So let’s use Alvin to get Carter,” Scarface replied into the pay phone.

“Okay, report to my mansion the second you get into LA.  I have a little assignment for you and my little Chief Hightower,” Senator Cheatham replied from the pay phone.

He hung up the phone and rushed to the Hummer.

A few minutes later, Scarface drove down the westbound entrance ramp for Interstate I-10.  He didn’t notice Carter’s RV while he pulled into the Famous Stars convenience store/gas station that Scarface just left.

Back on Interstate I-10, Scarface raced his Hummer at 100 miles per hour down the highway.

Fifteen minutes later, Carter drove the RV west on Interstate I-10 and he had tears in his eyes at the thought of his credit card bill going over one thousand dollars.

An hour later, Scarface raced his Hummer down the driveway of Senator Cheatham’s mansion.  He screeched the Hummer to a stop and turned it off.

He jumped out of the vehicle and raced to the front door.

Five minutes later, Scarface and Chief Hightower escorted Alvin out of the Senator’s mansion.

They escorted Alvin to the Hummer and threw him the backseat.  Chief Hightower climbed in the backseat with Alvin and had a 38 Special pointed into Alvin’s side.

Scarface got behind the wheel, started up the Hummer and screeched off down the driveway.

Twenty minutes later, Carter drove the RV down Interstate I-10 into the Los Angeles area.

“I need to make a short pit stop for some insurance,” Carter told Sabrina the woman then drove the RV down the next exit ramp off Interstate I-10.
