SOMA | The Meme Dump

JEREMY

I’ve spent many cycles on this problem. And if this is truly the last of the Soma, my record has to happen soon. Luckily, I’ve designed a system to help clean up after me once I’m finished here. Here, stand up for a moment.

Jeremy pulls the foam mattress from his cot. The young men look through the frame of the bed. Beneath it is a shallow grave dusted with sodium hydroxide. Old ham bones and piles of broken violin strings have been discarded in the pit.

JEREMY

Six feet deep and dusted with lye. This roof supports 300 kilos of topsoil. Look here! The mechanism is quite simple. It’s springloaded to collapse with the push of this lever.

Levon squirms frantically out of the bunker.

JEREMY

The safety is on, of course.

LEVON

I was just thinking of leaving town...

JEREMY

Oh. I’m sorry. I’ve been too honest with you.

LEVON

So… You’re quitting then?

JEREMY

I don't see it that way.

LEVON

Were you going to tell anyone? Leave a note? A marker?
