The day passed, and Wilma and Amy watched Oprah and ate some dinner.
They relaxed on the couch drinking tea while they finished watching the evening news reports.
Wilma's front doorbell rang.
"I'm not expecting anybody, excuse me," Wilma said while she got up.
"Probably some salesperson," Amy replied, then sipped her tea.
"Probably," Wilma replied while she walked out of the living room.
The doorbell rang again while Wilma walked to the front door.
Wilma opened her front door and saw Dorothy, Edith, Barney, and Wilbur all dressed up standing outside. Wilbur and Barney wore suits with Barney wearing a green plaid suit jacket with dark green slacks. Dorothy and Edith both wore beautiful dresses.
"Hey there," she greeted her friends.
"Are you ready?" Dorothy asked from outside.
"Ready? Ready for what?" Wilma replied, not having a clue.
"The senior citizens dance," Wilbur replied while he made a few goofy dance moves.
Wilma looked forgetful for a few seconds, and then it dawned on her. "Shoot, I forgot," she said.
"Come on, girlfriend, go get ready," Edith replied.
"I have company at the moment," Wilma replied.
Barney looked excited. "Female?" he said while his eyes lit up.
Barney rushed inside Wilma's house and rushed into the living room.
Dorothy, Edith, and Wilbur stepped inside Wilma's house.
"Oh Barney," Dorothy said when she saw Barney rush up to the couch.
Barney looked interested in Amy the second he saw her sitting on the couch. He smoothed out his hair with his hands. He blew into the palm of his hand, checking for bad breath. He strutted up to the couch with a goofy attempt at looking sexy. "And who is this vision of loveliness?" he said in the most sensual tone he could muster up.
Barney sat down on the couch next to Amy.
Amy hurried over to get away from Barney.
Barney scooted over after Amy.
Amy hurried over to get away from Barney.
Barney scooted over after Amy.
Amy tried to hurry over but was blocked by the arm of the couch.
Barney scooted over next to Amy. "You can scoot, but you can't hide," he said with a sexy chuckle.
Barney placed his arm around Amy.
Amy cringed at the feel of his arm around her shoulder.
"My name is Barney. What's your name, pretty lady?"
"Not interested!" Amy replied and shied away from Barney
Barney winked at Amy and gave her a loving smile.
Amy searched around the room for Wilma to help.
Wilma, Dorothy, Wilbur, and Edith walked into the living room,
"Barney! Leave my grand niece alone," Wilma called out.
Barney, Dorothy, Wilbur, and Edith looked at Amy in disbelief.
"We saw your grand-niece last Saturday, and she's a teenager," Wilbur said.
"You're correct. Then something bizarre happened the morning after my birthday party. She woke up old, like us."
Barney, Dorothy, and Wilbur looked Amy over.
Barney felt up her face.
Amy pulled away from Barney with his hand tagging along.
"How did this happen?" Dorothy asked Wilma.
"The doctor thinks she could have a rare autosomal recessive disorder called Werner Syndrome," Wilma replied.
Barney immediately scooted away from Amy, afraid of catching his disease. "A rare recessive wiener disorder?" he said and looked afraid of Amy.
"No, you goof. It's a premature aging disorder. And it's not contagious. And besides, you're already old," Wilma replied.
Barney looked relieved and smiled at Amy.
"So, would you like to go dancing with us?" Barney asked Amy.
Amy looked at Wilma.
"I sorta had plans to attend this dance tonight," Wilma told Amy.
Barney, Dorothy, Edith, and Wilbur all looked at Amy with hopeful eyes she would tag along.
Amy looked unsure on tagging along with Wilma and her friends.
"You can drive me to the dance in the Thunderbird," Wilma offered to Amy.
Amy smiled at the thought of driving that gorgeous car again. "Sure!"
Wilma and Amy changed their clothes into a beautiful dress. Amy had to borrow one of Wilma's dresses, and this time, she didn't mind.
Amy drove Wilma in her Thunderbird to the dance hall while Edith drove Dorothy, Wilbur, and Barney in her Crown Victoria.
The Desert Senior Citizens Civic Center was packed tonight with one hundred senior citizens for their monthly dance. Some of the older men wore suits, while the others wore dress shirts. All the ladies wore beautiful dresses.
The band consisted of a trumpet, trombone, saxophone, electric bass, electric guitar, drums, and clarinet players. There was also a woman and man singer when the songs called for one.
The band started playing Glenn Miller's Moonlight Serenade song.
Half of the senior citizens got up and slow danced on the dance floor.
The rest of the senior citizens sat in the chairs and chatted or hung around the snack table munching on chips, veggie or other cookies.
Barney, Wilbur, Wilma, Dorothy, Edith, and Amy sat in some chairs near the snack table.
Wilbur's eyes lit up when he spotted Sally over by the snack table. He's always had a crush on Sally.
"I'm going for it this month," Wilbur told his friends while he stood up.
Wilma, Dorothy, Edith, Barney, and Amy watched while Wilbur strutted over to Sally.
"What did he mean by this month?" Amy asked Edith.
"Wilbur's been too chicken to ask Sally to dance during the previous dances," Edith replied while she watched Wilbur.
It was quiet between Wilma, Dorothy, Edith, Barney, and Amy while they watched Wilbur talk with Sally. They watched while Wilbur had a huge grin on his face while he escorted Sally to the dance floor.
"You go, Wilbur," Wilma said happy for her friend.
Then Kent, Peter, and George walked up to Wilma, Edith, and Dorothy.
"May we have this dance," Kent asked Dorothy and offered his hand.
Peter extended out his hand to Wilma while George extended his hand out to Edith.
Wilma, Dorothy, and Edith accepted the men's offer and held their hands.
Barney and Amy watched while Wilma, Dorothy, and Edith were escorted to the dance floor.
Barney looked at the area in search of a woman. His eyes lit up when he saw Rita and Henrietta near the snack table. "Time to put on the Barney charm," he told Amy and winked.
Amy watched while Barney strutted over to Rita and Henrietta.
"Which one of you ladies would like to dance with the best dancer in this dance hall?" Barney asked the two ladies.
Both ladies shook their heads, refusing to dance and walked away.
Barney looked a little disappointed but determined. He walked over to Wendy.
Amy watched while Wendy turned down Barney's offer.
Barney eyed Nancy at the other end of the snack table not too far from Amy.
Barney slow danced over to Nancy, and while he danced by the snack table, he discreetly picked up an item.
Barney danced up to Nancy then discreetly dropped the item he picked up from the table.
"You dropped your name tag," he said to Nancy.
Nancy looked at her dress and was a little confused with Barney's comment. "What name tag?"
Barney bent down and picked up the item he discreetly dropped to the floor. He held out his hand, and Nancy saw a white packet of "Sugar" in Barney's palm.
Amy chucked at Barney's goofy pickup line.
"That line won't work on me," Nancy said then turned around and walked away.
Barney moped back to Amy, feeling rejected and unloved.
Amy felt sorry for Barney while he sat down two chairs from her and pouted.
Amy got up and walked over to Barney.
"I would love to dance with you," she said with a warm smile.
Barney's face lit up with joy.
Amy extended out her hand, and Barney took it.
They walked arm in arm to the dance floor.
Amy slow danced with Barney, and he felt like a stud.
After the song was over, Amy got an idea. "I'll be back," she said then rushed over to the band.
"What is she doing?" Barney asked himself while he watched Amy talk with one of the members of the band.
He watched while that member talked with the other members of the band who all nodded in agreement.
Amy rushed back to Barney with a smile on her face.
The band started playing the Commodore's She's A Brick House disco song.
Amy started disco dancing in front of Barney.
Barney watched Amy cool dance moves while he tapped his right foot to the rhythm of the music. Barney couldn't resist, and he mimicked Amy's disco dancing in a comical and goofy manner.
Amy chuckled over Barney's attempt with disco dancing. "Follow me," Amy said, then slowed down her dancing.
Barney mimicked Amy's dancing.
When Amy sped up her dance moves, Barney looked even goofier and comical.
But then it was magical when Barney's comical and goofy moves dissipated, and he started to dance in sync with Amy.
Wilma, Edith, Dorothy, and Wilbur brought their dance partners over to Amy and Barney. They started disco dancing along with Amy's moves.
Then all the other couples on the dance floor watched Amy and Barney. They all started to move to the rhythm of the song and started disco dancing along with Amy.
Within a few seconds, there were 50 senior citizens disco dancing along with Amy. It was the American Bandstand for senior citizens on the dance floor.
Then Debbie was dancing with her friend Kimberly, and she glanced over at Barney.
Barney eyed Debbie.
Debbie winked at Barney.
Barney knew her wink meant an opportunity for love.
Amy motioned Barney to go for it.
Barney danced his way over to Debbie, and they danced together.
Amy smiled while she watched Barney disco dancing with Debbie. Amy suddenly got a look of pain in her legs.
She walked away from the dance floor and limped her way back to the chairs.
Amy sat down in the first available chair and rubbed her right leg to soothe the aching. She wanted to cry when she saw more spider veins that developed in her legs.
From the dance floor, Wilma saw Amy sitting in the chair and had a gut feeling something was wrong. She whispered in Peter's ear, and he nodded that he understood.
Wilma rushed away from the dance floor and headed to Amy.
"What's the matter, dear?"
"My legs started aching from dancing," she replied, and her voice was slower and a little ragged.
Amy's face showed extreme pain, and Wilma noticed.
"There's pain shooting up and down my legs. It hurts real bad!" Amy said while her eyes welled up.
Wilma whistled on the dance floor.
Barney, Wilbur, Dorothy, and Edith all knew that whistle and looked over at Wilma.
Wilma motioned for them to get over to her quick.
Barney, Wilber, Dorothy, and Edith all excused themselves from their dates and rushed over to Wilma.
A few minutes later, Wilma, Barney, Wilbur, Dorothy, and Edith escorted Amy to Wilma's Thunderbird.
Wilma drove Amy to the hospital in the Thunderbird while Barney followed in his nineteen sixty-eight four-door Maroon with black interior Chevrolet Impala with Barney, Wilbur, and Edith
