Wilma woke up at six-thirty that Saturday morning with a stiff neck from sleeping at the kitchen table. She looked at the phone and was disappointed Dorreen didn't return her call.
After Wilma showered, she returned to the kitchen where Amy woke up and had a pot of coffee waiting.
Wilma poured a cup of coffee and sat at the table with Amy. "I can't believe Dorreen hasn't called me back," Wilma said then sipped some of her coffee.
Amy looked worried while she glanced at the phone. "What are we going to do? Should I go back to the hospital so they can fly me to LA?" Amy asked then she sipped some of her coffee.
Wilma thought about Amy's question while she sipped her coffee. She looked at the clock on the microwave. "I think we'll go surprise Dorreen with a visit. She's normally up this time of the day," Wilma told Amy.
"Let's go," Amy said while she stood up from the table.
Randall entered the kitchen yawning after just waking up.
"Randall, there's eggs and bread in the fridge. Make yourself some breakfast," Wilma told him while she stood up from the table.
"Are you going somewhere?" Randall asked.
"Paying Dorreen a little visit," Amy replied.
"Give me a minute to get ready," he said.
"Stay here, Randall," Amy told him.
"Are you sure?"
"We only have room for two in my car," Wilma told Randall.
"Make Laurie some breakfast, and we'll be back soon," Amy told Randall while then looked a little stiff.
Randall looked concerned while he watched Wilma walk Amy out of the kitchen.
Wilma drove her Thunderbird with Amy sitting in the passenger seat who was in a little pain.
A little while later, Wilma drove her Thunderbird down Sandbar Lane.
She pulled her car into Dorreen's driveway.
Wilma and Amy got out and rushed up to the Dorreen's front door. Wilma rang the doorbell, and they both looked anxious while they waited.
They didn't notice a pair of eyes that peeked out through the living room curtains at them.
Wilma rang the doorbell again and waited a few seconds.
The door opened, and their eyes widened that Dorreen was home.
"May I help you?" a female said from inside the house.
Wilma and Amy looked and saw Casey Sharpton standing in the doorway. Casey was 38 years old with long black hair.
Wilma looked a little lost at the sight of Casey, and she double-checked the house number thinking she drove to the wrong house.
"We're here to see Dorreen. I'm a close friend," Wilma told Casey.
Case hesitated for a few seconds as if she was trying to recall a rehearsed line. "I'm sorry, but Miss Boudreaux passed away last Sunday," she told Wilma and Amy.
Wilma looked shocked overhearing that news. "She what?" she said then her knees got weak and she dropped to the front stoop.
Amy assisted Wilma back up to her feet. "Aunt Wilma. You okay?"
Wilma regained her composure. "Dorreen's dead? I don't believe it," she said while she looked shocked.
"Then why are you in her house?" Amy asked Casey.
"I work for Dorreen's brother, who's her attorney," Casey replied.
"Would you mind if we take a look inside her house? We are in desperate need for any Voodoo books or other types of information?" Wilma asked Casey.
Casey frowned with Wilma's request. "I'm sorry. You can't look around."
"Please! It's a matter of life and death," Amy pleaded.
"No! Now please get off Dorreen's property!" Casey snapped out and looked adamant then she slammed the door shut.
Wilma banged on the closed door.
Casey didn't answer.
Wilma banged on the door again.
Casey didn't answer.
Wilma banged harder on the door.
"Ouch," she cried out and pulled her hand away from the door with sore knuckles.
The front door cracked opened. "Go away, or I'll call the police!" Casey yelled out from inside the house then slammed the door shut and locked it.
Amy and Wilma moped away from the front door and headed to her Thunderbird.
"What are we going to do now?" Wilma said while they got inside her car.
Amy pondered a solution while Wilma started up the Thunderbird and backed down the driveway.
During the drive home, it was quiet while Amy and Wilma pondered how to get access to Dorreen's Voodoo stuff.
Amy and Wilma looked worried while they entered her house and headed into the living room
Laurie and Randall sat on the couch and watched TV.
"Did you talk to Dorreen?" Laurie asked with hopeful eyes.
Randall could tell by the sadness in their eyes that they didn't talk with Dorreen. "She wasn't home?"
"No, she's dead," Amy said and looked worried while she plopped down on the couch between Laurie and Randall.
Wilma walked over and sat down on one of her chairs.
They all pondered a solution for a few minutes.
"Wilma, do you have a computer that can access the Internet?" Randall asked her.
"Of course, why?" Wilma replied.
"I thought it wouldn't hurt to try some searches on the super information highway for a possible Voodoo potion," Randall responded.
"That might work," Wilma said while she got up from her chair. "Follow me," she added then walked out of the living room.
"I'll make some more coffee," Amy said while she got up from the couch.
"I'll help," said Laurie while she got up from the couch and placed her arm around Amy's arm.
Amy felt good having her best friend by her side.
Wilma, Laurie, and Amy sat around and drank some coffee and tea while they waited for Randall to surf the Internet for a possible solution.
An hour later, Randall's Internet searches came up with nothing of value.
"We need to figure out a way to get access to Dorreen's stuff," Wilma commented.
Amy thought for a few seconds; then, her eyes lit up with an idea. "I have a plan. But it's dangerous, and I could get into big trouble if I get caught," she told everybody.
"Dangerous? What kind of plan are you thinking of?" Randall asked, but he had a hunch what her plan involved.
Amy hesitated to tell them while she knew they might all agree.
"I think that the only choice I have is breaking into Dorreen's house and search through her Voodoo stuff for an answer. She has to have a book of spells that will turn me back to my normal self," Amy told everybody.
Wilma, Randall, and Laurie looked at Amy for a few seconds while her proposal sunk in their heads.
"You want to break into Doreen's house?" Wilma asked.
"Yes. Can I borrow your car?" Amy asked Wilma.
"Isn't breaking into someone's home illegal?" Laurie said a little nervous.
"So is placing a Voodoo spell on someone to make them old," Randall replied.
"Good point," Wilma replied to Randall's comment.
Randall looked at Amy, and he still had a loving feeling towards her even though she's aged. "You can't do this alone," Randall told Amy and looked supportive.
Wilma thought about Randall's comment. "He's right," she added.
"Does Dorreen have an alarm at her home?" Randall asked Wilma.
Wilma thought for a few seconds while she recalled the times she was inside Dorreen's home. "I've never seen one."
"Good, that makes it safer for us," Randall replied.
"What do you mean by, it makes it easier for us?" Amy asked Randall.
"I'm not going to let you to this alone," Randall replied.
Laurie thought about Randall's comment for a few seconds. "Why not. I'm in," she told Amy.
Wilma thought about their suggestion for a few seconds. "I'm helping, and I'm calling in the senior reserves," she said and looked determined.
"The senior reserves? Who are they?" Laurie asked.
"My four best friends," Wilma replied, then rushed out of the living room and headed to the kitchen.
Wilma made a phone call to Edith the second she got into the kitchen.
"Edith, it's me, Wilma. Listen, I need you, Dorothy, Barney, and Wilbur and rush over to my house as soon as you can," she said.
"What for?" Edith replied a little curious from the phone.
"Amy desperately needs our help," Wilma said.
"Did you talk to Dorreen?" Edith replied.
"She's the problem, and we have a solution. I'll explain everything when you get here," Wilma said.
"We'll be there within the hour," Edith responded and hung up her end of the call.
Wilma hung up her phone and walked out of the kitchen.
"When my friends get here, we'll discuss our plans," Wilma told everybody when she walked back into the living room.
Amy sat on the couch between Laurie and Randall.
Twenty minutes had passed, and Edith, Dorothy, Wilbur, and Barney just arrived at Wilma's house and were in the living room ready to hear about their mission.
"What's the urgency?" Edith asked while they walked into the living room with Wilma.
"Didn't you talk with Doreen?" Dorothy asked.
"Dorreen passed away last Sunday," Wilma replied while everybody found a seat.
Dorothy, Wilbur, and Edith looked shocked, overhearing about Dorreen's death.
Barney looked relieved knowing Dorreen wasn't going force herself on him during future meetings.
"Poor Dorreen," Edith said.
Barney remembered the past events. "Why would she do such a thing to Amy?" he asked everybody.
"I believe she got mad during Wilma's birthday when I said some mean things about old people," Amy while she looked at Wilma, Barney, Dorothy, Edith, and Wilbur. "I'm so sorry," she said with forgiving eyes.
"Ah, don't worry. We were all young once and probably said those same mean things," Wilbur said with a forgiving tone.
"Yeah, I was also young once," Amy replied while she looked down at her wrinkled and aching hands.
Everybody looked sad at Amy.
"So what's the plan?" Dorothy asked Wilma.
Wilma looked at Barney, Dorothy, Wilbur, and Edith and got serious. "We're going to break into Dorreen's house and snatch all of her Voodoo books and items," Wilma said.
Barney, Dorothy, Wilbur, and Edith stared at Wilma in disbelief with the plan.
"Did you say, break into Dorreen's house?" Dorothy asked Wilma.
"Yep," Wilma replied while she nodded her head.
"Isn't that illegal?" Barney replied and looked a little nervous.
"So is using a Voodoo spell to turn a young lady into an old lady overnight," Randall replied.
Barney, Dorothy, Edith, and Wilbur thought about Randall's response.
Barney looked at Amy's sad baggy eyes in that wrinkled face that was so smooth and vibrant a week ago. "I'm in," he said.
"I'm in," Wilbur said while he looked at Amy and wanted to turn her back into a teenager.
"Me too," Dorothy added while she wished she could get her curvy teenager body back.
"Count me in also," Edith also added and wished she could get her curvy teenage body back.
Amy smiled over the support of her young and old friends.
"When do we leave?" Edith asked Wilma.
"One in the morning, so go home, get some rest and be here dressed for convert operations," Wilma told her friends.
Barney, Edith, Wilbur, and Dorothy stood up and looked anxious on helping with tonight's covert operations.
Wilma walked her friends to her front door and let them out.
She walked back into the living room and joined Amy, Laurie, and Randall, where they relaxed.
An hour had passed.
Wilma, Randall, and Laurie watched a movie in the living room.
Amy headed into the kitchen.
Amy looked curious while she stared at the phone. Then she couldn't resist temptation while she walked over to the phone and made a call.
"Hello," Paul answered the call.
Amy hesitated for a second. "Paul. It's Amy."
There were a few seconds of silence on Paul's end of the call.
"Paul" Hello?" she said into the phone.
"What do you want?" Paul asked from the phone and sounded irritated with Amy calling.
"We need to talk."
"Why?" Paul replied and sounded a little bothered by Amy's call.
"Why? I thought you were my boyfriend? How could you go out with Suzie Comer?" Amy said while her eyes welled up recalling that bad day at the food court.
"Listen. No offense, but I'm not into old meat," Paul replied then disconnected his end of the call.
"Paul!" Amy cried out into the phone.
She waited for his response then it dawned on her that he hung up. "Jerk!" she cried out and slammed down the receiver.
"What's the matter?" Randall asked while he entered the kitchen and looked concerned.
Randall saw tears run down Amy's cheek.
"It's Paul. He doesn't want me because I'm old and don't have my girlish figure anymore," she said
Randall walked up to Amy. "Paul's a moron. He doesn't know what a beautiful woman he's missing out on," he said while he hugged Amy.
Amy felt so lucky to have Randall as a friend that stood by her side during the past week.
