Living in a hostel is a rite of passage. It makes you stronger by throwing daily struggles at you. Even who has lived in a hostel is familiar with certain dai- ly struggles. Whether it is money problems or love problems. you have seen the ugly side of hostel life. often in the most hilarious manner.
THE GREAT WAR WITH FOOD.
Everything is better than mess food. Isn't it? Hostel food is not made to please the tastebuds. Still. every mealtime results in a horde of people trying to outrun each other to get the food first. obviously "first come first served". The days when there is something good in menu. Aahaan!!!
THE STRUGGLE FOR MONEY.
You will have that one friend in your group who is always broke. and more often than not. whether because of unusual indulgences or by just a tight hold on pocket money by parents or bad money management or may be because of that girlfriend. there is always some money trouble for hostellers
THE STRUGGLE WITH AUTHORITIES.
While living in a hostel does give you a taste of independence. there is al- ways a figure of authority. whether it is the warden or the security or both together. You have to stay on friendly terms with them so that they will not trouble. which can lead a peaceful life in hostel but beware that you don't trouble apple of their eye. which can put you in serious trouble. they mostly are called warden's wingman a.k.a informers or undercovers or secret agent or *%#@*#A*.
THE ROOMMATE STRUGGLE.
A hostel room or dorms not exactly a haven for those who treasure their privacy. You learn to adjust to your roommate(s). mostly compelled to do so and their quirks. and face the daily struggle of disagreements exasperation. jugaad and strained friendship with them. Their annoying nature has now became a part of your life and irony is: you can't help them neither yourself.
The DIY Struggle.
Once you leave the home for hostel. you also leave behind the luxury of your mother or domestic help doing all your chores for you. Get prepared to clean. wash. cook and scrub. Although go back to home and you are not changed but the same. leading same luxury of your mother doing everything for you.
THE BATHROOM STRUGGLE.
A community bathroom is perhaps the most troublesome part of hostel life. there is always someone who never flushout. cleanliness issues in toilet is a ma- jor issue and seriously you can't bear that smell. The silent fight for for mirror space and many things. every hosteller has suffered the ultimate struggle in the bathroom.
THE WAKING UP STRUGGLE.
Now this is something really serious. By the time. all hostellers learns to snooze the alarm until the the very last moment and still manage to make it to the class on time. ninja-style with disheveled hair and barely held up dress. Wish could had woke up sminutes earlier. Okay! Lets give a try tomorrow.
