Lesson #5: Optimize Your Squeeze Page

Let's start with what a squeeze page actually is. Any search for an explanation of these critical marketing pages could easily confuse you since they are known by four different names: "squeeze page," "capture page," "lead capture page" and "opt-in page." They are all the same thing.

Let's make it simpler -

The squeeze page's only job is to get your visitors to give you their name and email address, which, through the double opt-in process (email confirmation) and their wish to subscribe, lets you market to them in return for a free gift.

Basically – a squeeze page is like a sales page but where the 'buy now' button would be, there's a form where the visitor can give you their name and email address (sometimes other details) in return for the product advertised on the page.

By giving you their details they're also agreeing that you can contact them in the future. This should of course be made clear on the squeeze page.

The whole point is to build a list of people you can email again and again and sell to.

Why does everyone in internet marketing use squeeze pages (or at least seem to)?

Because they work.

Squeeze pages are all designed around identical concepts. The actual presentation may be different, but the focus and intent is 100% the same on any successful opt-in page. Read behind the words and feel the emotional triggers and subtle guidance those pages are utilizing to get you to spill your details or buy a product. The more you can learn from watching the successful marketing gurus, the better off you will be with your own marketing campaigns.

If you want to maximize your opt-in conversion rate, you need to apply the seven elements for a killer squeeze page.

1. A compelling headline. You have about three seconds to grab the attention of your visitor and give them a reason to stay and read what you have to say before they click away to the next site. Especially if you’re advertising on traffic exchanges other related websites.

2. A bullet list of benefits. Once you’ve got their attention, you’ve got to keep it by telling exactly what your freebie is going to do and how it’s going to help them get what they want.

3. A strong call to action. Next you need to tell them what to do and how to get what you’re offering. For example, “Enter you name and email below for instant access.”

4. An opt-in form. This may seem obvious, but the placing of the form is what’s important. It should be “above the fold” for best results. And the submit button should also use text like “Click Here For Instant Access” instead of just “Submit.”

5. An email notice. You need to give an incentive or a reason to enter a real email address. Note that the download link will be sent to their email inbox or they will need to confirm to get the download.

6. A privacy statement. Ensure your subscribers that their information will not be shared with anyone and that you respect their privacy.

7. A trust seal. An easy way to increase conversions is by placing a trust seal on your site to let your visitors know that you do business with honesty and integrity. For example, I use the Honest Online button.

Besides those seven elements, good formatting, nice graphics, and a professional design will go a long way to increase your conversion rates. But for most direct response squeeze pages, a simple page with a white background and black text will do just fine.

I've included a short swipe file below where you can find some of the best headlines, openers and bullet points that you can plug your words into, add to, mix and match, and change around to start creating squeeze pages that convert like crazy!

I kept it down to just the ones I have tested and used effectively.

Using any combination of the below elements should certainly help you generate squeeze pages with 40% plus conversion.

Just pick which ones you like best and that you think would work best with your squeeze page and let it fly.

Sometimes the best teacher is experience. Get your squeeze page up and see what it does.

Don't spend weeks trying to come up with the perfect squeeze page! The sooner you get it online, the sooner you will build a list and make money!

HEADLINES

Here are some top producing headlines I have used successfully. Do not be afraid to add to them or even mix and match. They are a model for you to go by. They will work by just filling in the blanks, but it may be best for your Profit Funnel if you tweak them a little bit-make them fit to your site/idea more.

Squeeze Page Openers

After the headline, you usually will use a paragraph or so to hook the reader in. A good opening will help you accomplish that. Here are some of the best openers I use.

It is also a good idea to start the opening paragraph with "Dear Friend,". This makes it more personal and will increase readership.

Let your imagination run wild with these openers to create an exciting first paragraph for your squeeze page. Nobody wants to read dull copy, be emotional!

Bullet Points

The good thing about bullet points is that you can use one more than once.

These are some of my favorites!

Remember that bullet points are benefits, not features. People don't respond to features, they only want to know what those features will do for them (the benefit of that feature). Express those benefits in your bullet points.
