A telephone of the police station rang. Head constable on duty came out of his half sleep and looked at the clock. It was 5.49 am.

“Who is there at this time? What a hell this city! Neither it is sleeping nor allowing to sleep.” He walked to the telephone which was still ringing, picked up, “Hello, police station.”

“I am speaking from the beach near caves.” The sound from other side entered in his ears.

“So, what can I do for you? It’s a time to enjoy your morning walk at sea shore. Enjoy it and let me enjoy my sweet sleep of early morning….” He was about to disconnect the line but the words from other side prevented him, “One dead body is found on the beach…”

He noted all the details from the other side of telephone and rushed to the cabin of PSI Murthi to inform about the call.  Mr. Murthi rushed to the beach along with his team. He was on the spot within 14 minutes.

“Who is Mr. Vinod?” Mr. Murthi asked to the mob which was encircling the body on the beach. A young man left the mob and came forward,” Yes Sir.” He gave a glance at Vinod, then ordered the mob to disperse, the mob followed.

He gave various instructions to his team. His team followed.

“Sir, the girl is alive.” One constable informed Mr. Murthi.

“What? Are you sure?” He jumped to the body and checked the breathing and heart beats, satisfied that she is still alive, he ordered,” Take her to the hospital, hurry up, fast… don’t waste a second. She needs urgent treatments.”

The team followed him. He made some calls to the hospital and instructed accordingly. The ambulance arrived and picked her up to the hospital. The police team followed the ambulance.

“Mr. Vinod, you have to register your statement, please come to the police station,” PSI Murthi with Mr. Vinod was on the way to the police station.

“Tell in details, Mr. Vinod.” PSI Murthi said.

“Sir, while I was on my daily run, my eyes caught something unusual at the beach. Due to dusk, it was not visible from the distance. I moved closure and then found that a body was lying there.”

“How did you conclude that she was dead?” Murthi starred in his eyes.

Vinod was answerless. Murthi repeated his question.

“I am not sure, but…”

“But, what but? “

Vinod didn’t reply. Murthi breathed deeply and threw a glance at him,” Did you found anyone around her? Or any other things which matters to this case?”

“No, I didn’t found anyone around. When I was running, I just saw it and found her lying on the sand. I observed around, but none was there. I even didn’t found any footsteps of any other person.”

“Then , how could she reach there? Any clue?”

“No Sir. I don’t have any. May I leave now?” Vinod asked.

“Yes, but remember that, you may be called anytime for further investigation. Don’t leave the city without permission.” Murthi was little rude.

Vinod escaped from the police station.
