WHAT YOU SAY MATTERS

Dear Mom,

Your tongue carries enormous power. Children could be very difficult sometimes. As mom, there is often that temptation to curse or say swear words that hurts us as your children. You need to realize that how far I will go is subject to the quality of words you say concerning me.

Moms think they have a right to make negative pronouncements on their children. Some have made it a habit. I do know you are not like the others. You need to realize that I need those positive words, encouragement and motivation rather than depressing statements. You set an example for me to follow that it is highly irresponsible of me to use derogatory words.

The human tongue is a very powerful change tool. What you say has a massive impact on how I will lead my life for the rest of my life.

Blessed moms have blessed lips. They use their lips as blessing tools. I would appreciate your blessings. Children are prone to mistakes. You know mom that we have to learn. It is part of the growing process and is normal. The mistakes I make require correction and not a cruel word attack. Some moms desire absolute perfection, a state that is impossible for themselves as adults.

You do have to realize that I have all the time to grow and make the mistakes I have to make. You are not perfect. You make mistakes sometimes, and no one lashes you for them. How would you feel if some person uses derogatory words on you? You would feel bad right. Sure! You would not like it. I feel the same. Imagine if those words rained down by mothers all over the world were to come through. We would be having morons on our streets by now.

Make it a habit to bless my siblings and I with your words. Let it be honey to our hearts, a sweetening effect we will always cherish. Let your words inspire, motivate, encourage, build, enlighten and fortify us. You will be the beneficiary of such good nature.

Moms’ words are faith building, a prophecy speaking into the future. You know mom that you want the best for my siblings and me. That best you want is very much subject to your ability to make good use of your tongue. God has given you this ability to create what you want of me. Let your words uplift, let them build, it will not only pay me, it will pay you too.

With love

Your beloved daughter
