A mentor once told me: you only get eighteen summers with your kids, so make the most of them.
It’s easy to think you get more—after all, most of us get decades with our kids. Don’t we?
Not exactly. If you do the math—and I’m going to warn you right now that the math is frightening—by the time your kids finish high school, you’ve probably spent most of the time with them that you’re going to. That’s right: by the time your kids leave home, in terms of the number of hours, you’ve already spent the vast majority of the time with them that you ever will.
