Love Seeks Not Its Own

The Lover's Unspoken Gift

The lover creates an environment

For the beloved to grow in strength

So the beloved becomes independent

For that the lover will go great lengths

This is the greatest benefaction

To help open the gates to freedom

The lover makes of self no distraction

Create dependency is a kind of treason

The lover's great desire

Is the beloved's individuation

So the lover will do all that's required

To reach that consummation

The beloved then can stand alone

And love in turn from independence

Again love seeks not its own

Thus acts to improve existence

The lover seeks invisibility

So the beloved is independent

When the beloved feels true stability

That's why love itself's resplendent

The beloved may then become a lover

In the process of love thus goes on

Individuation would spread all over

It's the best that love can spawn

The labor of love is not possession

The lover seeks no ownership

This act of love, love never mentions

Yet it's the most blessed of all gifts
