(344-353) The Works of Love X

Conclusion

God's Love

In that God is love and love is conscience

We make our own adjudication

That God need judge us is just nonsense

By our own words, we achieve our condemnation

When against others we make accusations

And pray for punishment from above

We have spoken our self-denunciation

And violated the spirit of God's love

We know that love is not the question

In love's rigidity and mildness

Rigid when we're lost in justification

And quite mild when we feel forgiveness

"To let it be done for you

Just as you have believed"

In the rightness here, we see as true

How we can make ourselves bereaved

When we condemn another's faithlessness

Our condemnation is self attributive

When we can express love and forgiveness

We have to ourselves contributed

Like-to-like as it can be spoken

Means justice is a kind of echo

Love is God's circle when unbroken

On ourselves a goodness we can bestow

Love's reality exists in our inwardness

Where our works of love are not meritorious

We come to believe in grace and forgiveness

Because God's love is simply so glorious
