Anna and the Divine and Love
Anna Karenina loved aesthetically
And that love had to fail
It all happens quite pathetically
So it makes a dismal tale
Levin in the selfsame book
Makes another choice
He gives his faith another look
So thus he can rejoice
Kierkegaard predicted that
In his profound disquisition
It’s another love that works in fact
That’s the truth of his position
The love she felt was for herself
And not really for the other
Love’s not achieved by such stealth
When our mirror is our lover
True lovers do not just desire
Their lover’s admiration
But as we two have long aspired
To support and offer validation
To give our beloved what is needed
So the soul and self will thrive
Out of our love our strength is seeded
And helps our lover feel alive
What Kierkegaard and Tolstoy had in mind
Is to love our God through one another
As in each other’s hearts we find
The best of love uncovered
