The Middle Term, Illumination, and Loneliness

God offers us illumination

When there as the middle term

If we deny this profound revelation

Where then do we turn?

Do we enter the deepest shade

Lonely and painfully alienated?

This is the madness we have made

That comes from thinking sophisticated

For God in thought is the middle term

Without that we're denied reality

Kierkegaard gave us this thing to learn

We can't see life in its totality

That means we cannot see each other

Without the light divine

No neighbor can we serve as lover

In the shade all love's denied

Beneath the shades of loneliness

We like to feel our doom was fated

But we have given up such relatedness

In this Godless world we've created

We can see each other as mere obstructions

Against whom we must compete

Out of that breeds our destruction

So we use consuming to feel replete

Without God love becomes impossible

Without love we find that we are lost

All is permitted thus irresponsible

Godless vanity has its cost
