Judgement
No need to look for reasons
or ask the question “why?”
Shit happens, as the saying goes,
to such as you or I.
Perhaps we do deserve it,
as some are wont to cry,
that doesn’t make it punishment,
a judgement from on high.
Forget about a vengeful god,
the great all seeing eye,
that heavenly policeman
or disembodied spy.
Even if, as some believe,
there’s judgement by and by
is that any reason we should
pay before we die?
Life is complicated,
it doesn’t do to pry;
we’ll never understand it
so should we even try?
