The Triune Brain.

The human brain - that's the problem;

evolved too much.  Or not enough:

it's not yet integrated.

With one foot mired in the primitive past

and one on the rung to who knows where

we're stuck in the middle,

betwixt and between; half animal, half superman.

Not content with what we are

we strain and strive and struggle in

a vain attempt to be something more;

desperate to appear important, even temporarily.

Confusion reigns as reptilian brains

compete with our higher intelligence,

choosing to rave, or maybe behave,

while mammalian brain looks on.

Meditation's the key, apparently;

building bridges, joining ridges,

pouring oil on troubled waters,

harmonising the three.
