The Insignificant Gnat

The insignificant gnat is one

of nature's smallest creatures;

one is hardly able to see it at all,

never mind make out its features,

yet just let one of them come between

your trousers and your thighs

and you'll find it has a bite that's

disproportionate to its size.

The trouble caused by one little gnat

is something quite atrocious;

it's bite produces the kind of itch

which might be deemed ferocious.

It can send a person round the bend,

drive you out of your mind

and oh! the awful embarrassment when

one gets you from behind.
