Forgotten Sorrow
Y
OUR sorrow, friend, today that you are
bearing
Will be forgotten as the swift years pass.
Time muffles sorrow as it does the footsteps
Of one who moves across the meadow grass.
And this your bitter grief will be forgotten
As is a raindrop in a stormy sea,
For this is God’s own merciful provision,
For you, dear grieving friend—for you and me.
Look up and wait upon that blessed healing.
Even the scars will lessen with the years.
God plans it so, for all his weeping children—
It is his hand that wipes away our tears.
