Blush on Winter Snow

Nothing seems as relative as your blush on winter snow,

We didn’t need to make snow angels because I had one before me

But we should’ve so I’d have a marker of where my heart ceased to be my own

Cruel things such as hearts just fall along the cold winter snow

Which is why it’s said when an angel is found always kiss them goodnight,

And when you hold that beautiful half that makes you feel so alive,

Know that winter woe is waiting on the other side

So when the light is shining on winter white don’t pray for spring,

Though your bones may freeze the thawing will proceed

When you see lost love you think winter freeze

Like the lake you knew of and the angel who flew back up

But I tell you, your secrets intact as the pain in your heart deadens, in the dead of
winter,

To winter you turn your wrath, you cry out such love in winter came,

Why does it cease now? Of all things beloved why does this season haunt me so?

You drink yourself to sleep, with alcohol induced rosy cheeks,

So far from the memory held beneath,

As hearts flee you see a doe lying dead in the winter snow

So you nestle up to it as if it were your true love.
