Self-Isolation and the Creative Spirit

“This is super good!!! I love the dark vibes I get from this!! Keep up the good work!” This is a comment I got recently about one of my songs. Some people expect me to joke around, and I do. However, there was a time when I was self-isolation for months…not because of a virus, but because I was living like an idiot.
I crashed hard and had to lay low for months to recover.
Nope, it wasn’t fun then either. However, around those times I kept on creating…what little I could anyway. As it turns out, I still get positive feedback on those dark, but honest vibrations.
I guess there are a lot of people who can relate to that, especially these days. The dark side is always whispering…and the most natural thing in the world is to give in to it.
However, we must not take the easy road to the dark side.
Yes, be honest about how you are feeling. A wise man once said, “The truth shall set you free.” If you’re the kind of person who thinks God won’t like it if you are honest, consider the fact that God already knows how you are feeling.
Who do you think you are you fooling?
Be honest with yourself and your situation.
Be honest with God.
If you can create anything…keep busy creating…the creative mind needs to create. So if you can, do it. It’s like therapy and who knows, maybe your work will end up helping other people who are feeling the same way you did.
You may not be able to do what you want to…just do what you can.
You may not be able to do much, but even a little is something.
Take a deep breath, take one step at a time…one moment after another. That’s all you can really do…a small step doesn’t seem like much, but they add up over time.
Whatever you do, don’t give up hope.
It’s the heartbeat of life.
Don’t pick up that gun, don’t pick up that bottle, that’s not going to help. If you need to pick up anything, pick up the phone and call someone.
If you take a look at the history of the world, you will see a lot of hard times…but those times are history. Coronavirus will be history at some point too…you can count on it.
Resist the temptation of the dark side…the voice that whispers that it’s no use, that life will never get better, that you might as well give up…
Just take another breath…take another step…and then another…I know you can.
