In the Morning After

Image

In the ache of light

and in the vomit of his regret

in the head swimming

with everything she tried to forget

they face the lies of the evening before

rolling from the bed of confusion

into the room where they had filled themselves with everything

tickled by a nagging feeling that they needed something

something more

***

even in the trash

the bottles and needles of the aftermath

hope is worth dreaming of

even in the tears

of the used and forsaken

runs the sacred craving for love

even if the entire world laughs at the broken

you can change

you can choose to live

you can give, trading your life for something more
