becomes self serving

the centered

becomes self centered

and even the most righteous

become self righteous

lust and greed

are the waves trembling

and raging

tossing the shelter

of the ship

love is giving

love is reaching out

beyond yourself

love is sacrificing yourself

for somebody else

when everything is sinking

and we are drowning alone

in the salt water

wherever there are two people giving everything

for the other

you have something

greater than an angry ocean of selfish desire

to drown in

maybe by swimming together

we can yet reach the blessed shore
