Hwang Tonggyu (1938~)

Born in Seoul, Hwang Tonggyu studied English at Seoul National University. His poems reflect the aridity of modem life, the sway materialism holds over natural values. Less conceptual than the work of typically “difficult” modern poets, his poems show personal emotion in the face of deformity, death, transience, and the difficulty of contemporary life.
