SUNSET DEATH

Candice James

Copyright 2009

Sunset,

Vivid hues of blue and coral

Striking an absurd impersonation

Of psychedelic sulphur,

Trying in vain to become relit.

Then, some obscure cat

Struts in on big feet,

Becomes a lion

And roars at the sunset fog,

Quite unable to converse

With the angry impotent sunset.

It’s so sad sunsets can’t learn

To die a natural death.

They always seem to be fighting it.

There always has to be a villain

Or,

In better times,

An artist that understands.

It’s a crossword puzzle

That doesn’t quite fit reality.

TOO LATE

Windowing into your soul

My eyes blindly guide my mind.

The journey is endless like you and I.

My recognized acquaintance,

Where have you been so long, too long?

Now as our paths cross again this side of Eden

They do not intersect as we had so carefully planned.

I don’t blame you.  I am the one at fault.

I have been lost all the while you were found.

It would have been beautiful and truly inspired.

Forgive me for being late,

Too late.
