Winter Comes

Fruit hangs like hearts from bending tired mothers;

It is autumn now and they retreat,

Exhausted from the feeding,

But generously surrender their offspring.

Hush, now. Winter comes but will bring forth new life.

Remember that camelias, ever green, bloom in winter.
