TO LOVE

Your love

came into my life

with an air of spring,

with an air of freshness

that smelled of wild flowers.

You found me

on Vancouver Island,

in Victoria,

half asleep, with the door

to my heart frozen shut.

You gave me the breath of love.

Today I take spring flowers

full of fragrance,

full of honey,

and make a bouquet of love for you.

Love flows from my pores,

like the air I breathe,

like the wine on the table,

like food made in Chile,

like the happiness I have inside.

Oh, this love that comes

from so deep,

from within my being,

from within my life,

from within my soul.

It’s just that I love you

and I don’t know how to tell you,

nor do I know how to thank you,

I only have my dreams,

I only have my poems.
