THE DANCE

The music swells. I’m in the clouds,
Dancing in your arms. Is it you, or is it
The music that has charms?

You whirl me round.
We dance in rhythm that’s sublime.
I could dance all night like this.
While you’re in my arms you’re mine.

You and I, we dance as one,
As I waltz round with you.
As we trip around the floor
My dreams are coming true.

I’m dancing in the heavens.
I feel my spirits soar.
All pain and doubt are vanished.
I’m in your arms forevermore.

But then the music fades and dies,
And halts my dancing feet.
By my side there stands a stranger

Who politely shows me to my seat.
