POWERLESS

I was struck mute

By the audacity of your mouth

Dumbfounded and shocked,

I thought this must be a joke.

I pretended to not hear the words

You hurled my way.

I pretended to not listen

To the hatred you displayed.

One day I will overcome this hatred

And you will only have yourself to blame.
