among the anemone -
an angel fish once
swam up to me and
begged for me to
follow her. i
rode the currents with
her and thousands of
others until we
reacher an underwater
cliff.
she beckoned me to
swim forward, to look
over the edge. i was
timid and nervous, so she
came beside me and
led me to the edge.
as i peered downwards,
a city of glowing lights
smiled back up at me.
life blossomed from
every reef, every cave,
every small nook
that hid millions of
fish, stingrays,
seahorse and flounders.
in balance, they
lived together,
appreciating one another and
spending each day like
it was their last.
august comes with
you and your
wavy, salty blonde hair,
surfboards under our bellies,
and and endless horizon
in front of our eyes.
