bittersweet -

honey spills

downward from

spires that graze

the ocean.

it tingles on the

backs of policans that

drift aimlessly on the

froth that melts into

the waves like

cream on the

surface of a

starbucks nitro

cold brew;

deep, bitter, sinking.

honey that seeps in,

dares to try and

sweeten it, trying,

failing.

dolphins that carry

coral on their backs,

resurfacing only to

shoot pieces of pastel-

colored shell into the

sky and create

rainbows from the the

tip of their nose to the

flap of their taila.

when you

taste the bitter

cold brew with shots of

sweet honey, pelicans waiting to

see how you react, to

cream more and more

froth your way as you

sink or swim

into the depths of the

bittersweet sea.
