The Elusive Norse Viking Wolf-Dog Hybrid Experiment

Two Quarters Cared For

Two Quarters Always Caring

Two Quarters Smelly Breath

Two Quarters Always Smelling

Two Quarters Rabbit Eater

Two Quarters Rabbit Scaring

Two Quarters Thick Fur

Two Quarters Shaved Right Down

A Half Of Domestic Love

And A whole Of Human Being

With eyes blacker than the centre of the earth

With a heart bigger than a supertonic black hole

With a soul with more rings than Jupiter

With fur more colorful than a children's jumping castle

With a tongue so goofy

Anteaters would feel jealousy

With a smile so razor sharp

It could cut cement with glee

With a collar so permanent

Only King Author would dare pry it from its stone

Without pain

Like a wild orangutan being freed from its cage

Without violent teeth

Like a shark visiting its dentist

Without going "nay"

Because he never smoked joints with horses

Without going "purr"

Because he had a cat eating fetish

Without going "Oink"

Because he wasn't a goddamn pig

With never giving in to peer pressure

To change his beauty

And with never failing to stay put

When that door in our mind opens up

He could run off at anytime

Right out the door...

But he doesn't

He just stares at us

Looking at us with those soul-unveiling eyes

He will never leave his nostalgic home

He will never become a skinny stray

Even with him living elsewhere now

He always be standing on that open door in our minds

Looking at the abyss

Waiting for his friends to come home

Waiting to see his friends one more time

Waiting to play with his friends one more time

Pawing

Licking

And humping that invisible shield

The one that keeps him in his home....

And from running out of our minds to chase some squirrel
