Fireflies
Snowflakes gravitated,
mesmerized,
around the street light.
The night pointed backwards,
to the heart of winter.
We paced slowly,
obeying the darkness.
We paced slowly,
along the serpentining path.
Slippery though numb,
hope fought its way out,
through my fingers,
like ashes flowing anxiously
among flames.
I gazed upon the Heavens, from the Zenith,
above pillars of
dust.
The shadows, the cosmic warriors,
against
the begetters of destruction.
They fought bravely, with knives
stuck in the spine
of redemption.
