In Absentia

Roses glimmer with faded shades of black,

stars shine with dimmer purpose.

Relativity affects abysmal days,

and gravity pulls us down, within.

I watched the bird flying backwards,

while the blooded moon stained the dirt of the ocean.

Fishes died, poisoned by greed.

I gave some men a fish,

and they were discontent.

I gave some men some wine,

and they got drunk, and sang,

and clobbered each other

outside the church.

I sounded the trumpet,

and the temples crashed,

and the temples crashed,

and the temples crashed!

They were not there anymore,

to look down on creation.

They were not there anymore,

to desecrate life.

They were not there anymore,

therefore I was.
