I DREAMED MY GRANDMOTHER
A Poem
by Austin Mitchell
I dreamt of you my grandmother
The mother of my mother
Yes grandmother, I dreamt of you
In my dream I saw you
I don’t remember what you said to me
But you were looking at me
You wanted to say something
But you said nothing
Then I went back to sleep
That’s all I can remember
Waking up out of my sleep
Nothing to remember
Because you said nothing, grandmother
You always said something, grandmother
