The lunar calendar always poses problems. The ninth month, of course, is not September, but in contemporary Korean kuwŏl is September. None of this really matters. The poem is obviously about autumn colors. I have left the title of the poem intact, “The Peak of Nine Month Mountain,” but in the body of the poem September rather than nine or ninth month seemed preferable.
In September last year I trekked September;
in September this year I trekked September;
in September every year I trek September.
September scenes are always full of September.
