A Confession
'Bless me father for I have sinned,' he said.
By the shadowed confession box he stood.
The hidden priest his short dialogue read.
Years ago, he'd a girl half his age wed,
He'd gotten her pregnant and knew he should.
'Bless me father for I have sinned,' he said.
One day his wife on allergic food fed
Long before their child had reached adulthood.
The hidden priest his short dialogue read.
The doctor arrived, by then she was dead,
He should have never let her eat the food.
'Bless me father for I have sinned,' he said.
The priest helped him out and some light did shed:
'Don't feel guilty, son, that's not ever good.'
The hidden priest his short dialogue read.
He assured him he had not her death led:
'By the House of God you'd done all you could.'
'Bless me father for I have sinned,' he said.
