For several years after leaving school, I was lucky enough to be employed by an automotive research company, working on many exotic designs, single cylinder through to V8 and wankel, for race/rally and fuel efficiency applications, on the road and on water. They also taught me precision engineering and to be a draftsman.
Loved every minute.
After that, I ran a motorcycle tuning shop where race winning engines were prepared, manufacturing some of the performance parts used in-house.
For most of this time, in the background, I’d been teaching myself how to programme computers. And that’s what kept me going for another twenty-odd years until I retired.
