or colors of your choice

LION BRAND knitting needles size 7 (4.5 mm)

LION BRAND stitch markers

LION BRAND large-eyed blunt needle

Gauge: 14 sts + 28 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (k every row). Each Rectangle = 3 x 6 in (7.5 x  15 cm).

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern  and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and  rows to match the gauge, try using smaller size needles; if more stitches and rows, try larger  size needles.

Notes

1. Shawl is worked, in a modular fashion, from rows of Rectangles. The first row consists of one  Rectangle, the second row consists of two Rectangles, the third row consists of three  Rectangles and so on. Refer to Assembly Diagram for placement of Rectangles.

2. Each Rectangle is made with two miters (angles) formed by working decrea ses on every  other row.

3. Change colors randomly as desired. To change color, cut the old color leaving an 8 in. (20.5  cm) tail then begin working with the new color leaving a beginning tail. You may knot the old  and new yarn tails together, if desired. When you have finished knitting, unknot the yarn tails  and weave them in.
