CHAPTER FOUR
THE FALL OF EVE
The story of the fall of Eve is crucial to understanding many things in the Bible not the least of which, is spiritual nakedness.
SPIRITUAL NAKEDNESS
When Adam and Eve ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, one of the effects of that, was that they found that they were naked. Nakedness has been an issue all through the Bibles long history, but it is not to do with just physical nakedness. Physical nakedness is neither here nor there; it is non-consequential.
Joh:6:63: It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Spiritual nakedness however is altogether different. It was spiritual nakedness that Noah divulged to his sons Ge:9:22:, it was spiritual nakedness that Isaiah went three years naked and barefoot Isa:20:3 and it was spiritual nakedness that saw Peter fishing in the company of his fully clothed companions the disciples Joh:21:7:.
Joh:21:7: Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.
The fall of Eve is the most important story of the Bible and it has been used over the years to argue many things except for expounding the truth. The true significance of this story cannot be experienced unless the only truthful explanation is given. This story underpins all of Jesus Christ’s teachings. The discernment of what is truth is dependent on knowing the imagery of this story.
The story begins with God giving Adam and Eve a dire warning that if they ate of the fruit or even touch the fruit they would surely die.
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. Ge:3:1-7:
But the serpent says you will not die but your eyes will be opened and you will be as gods. So they ate of the fruit and behold their eyes were indeed opened and they did become as gods knowing good and evil.
Ge:3:22: And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
Now here is the thing, if they became as gods it means they had no ruler over them. God has no ruler. Is this really so. There is a verse in Habakkuk that suggests just this.
And (God) makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them? Hab:1:14:
So if Adam and Eve were as gods then they were equal to God and had no ruler over them. How is it then, that they can be cast out of Eden?
They are cast out of Eden because they lost the concept of it. Remember that Adam is a society and Eve his religion. If that society lost the concept of God (became as god themselves) then they in effect became atheists. As atheists there would be no god and no heaven and no Garden of Eden to be part of.
Atheism means to be without god. Just as the Passover is a fast from god; a time of going without god; or fasting from god so too is atheism a state of being free from believing that gods exist.
This state of being was termed their spiritual nakedness.
And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? Ge:3:9-11:
For the society of Adam to know that they were naked they would need to be atheists. God asked “Who told thee that they were naked?” The answer was that having eaten of the fruit of knowledge of good and evil they became as gods themselves who knew that they had no ruler over them and hence knew that they were as god, and if they were as god then there was no other god anywhere to be found. Hence they lost their innocent concept that god existed.
All this is verified by Jesus Christ. He begins by suggesting to not call god, “god” because sin (idolatry) lies at the door instead call Him ‘Father’ and pray this way
M't:6:9: After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
In fact Jesus says do not pray in the open where people can see you because they will think you are committing idolatry instead lock yourself in the closet to pray in secret.
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. M't:6:5-6:
Remember idolatry is worshipping anything at all wherein your sober thoughts are given over to dogma. This is a corruption of thought which invites delusion. Jesus said don’t look here and there for god when you won’t find god anywhere.
And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. Lu:17:20-22:
Jesus says clearly that the kingdom of God does not come with observation because god is within you. This is that same realisation that Adam felt after eating of the fruit of knowledge of good and evil.
In another place Jesus says that you are gods just as Adam saw himself as god.
The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? Joh:10:33-34:
And again we can become the sons and daughters of god;
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Joh:1:12-13:
And again in Romans the same sentiment;
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Ro:8:14:
We know too that scripture is written on velum (flesh or goat skin) and is called the FLESH of Christ but it is also called the WORD of god. John writes that in the beginning the word existed and that it was with or about god and that IT WAS GOD.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Joh:1:1:
We see by the weight of all this evidence that god is within us. This is the secret known as the “mystery of God”. That we are god there is no other god, only the spirit within us is worthy; not to be called god, but to be called Father in Heaven. If we call it god then we risk backsliding into idolatry yet again.
This is the truth of it and god must be worshipped bearing this truth in mind for Jesus said
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Joh:4:24:
Ignoring this truth leads to dogma which we know to be delusion and corruption of thought and mind. This can come about by interpreting biblical things too literally. For example Cain and Abel had no one to marry where did their wives come from? The truth is the population was already there as we have revealed. But Cain was not a single man and neither was Able. Like their parents they were groups of people whom believed different ideologies from the parent religion of Eve.
CAIN AND ABLE
Adam, as we have seen was not an individual but was a unique society separated by his religion and spiritual wife (Eve). They had children; Cain and Abel. Of course these are not real people either so just what are they? In order to answer this we once again turn to Christianity. Jesus created Christianity but it was some 300 years before the Roman Catholic Church was born. Then Christianity begat Lutheran; then Anglican; and Protestant then Methodist and so forth until today there are hundreds of Christianity’s offspring. These are all children of the one Mother: Christianity! Now let us look at Cain and Abel.
Abel (Abel means 'vanity') he was a keeper of sheep. A keeper of sheep is called a shepherd. Ever since Jesus called himself the 'good shepherd', pastors have likewise been referring to themselves as shepherds and their flock as being the congregation. So from this insight we learn that Abel (vanity) was not a man but was a doctrine (a congregation) born from the Mother religion Eve (Foundation of Life). If this is so then what is Cain? The text says that Cain (Cain means Possessions) he was a tiller of the ground. Remembering that the ground- is God's field (the population) we can assume that a ‘tiller’ of mankind must be some form of worldly business based doctrine or theory. This would tie in nicely with his name meaning “possessions”, a business could have worldly possessions. Both Cain (Possessions) and Abel (Vanity) are doctrines because they were both born from the mother religion, Eve. They were called sons because Eve knew the dark truth that there are no such things as gods.
Cain (Possessions) is even worldlier than Abel (Vanity) because he was a 'Tiller of the ground'. God is Truth and a worldly doctrine born of truth can be likened to a scientific attitude such as the theory of evolution. Seeking knowledge is good but people also need to appreciate their spirituality, consciousness and moral obligations. Science has no morals and promotes total atheism which denies a person’s right to spiritual comforting. Religion gives us morals as well as a comforter. So we have this scenario.
And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain (Possessions), and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. And she again bare his brother Abel (Vanity). And Abel (Vanity) was a keeper of sheep, but Cain (Possessions) was a tiller of the ground. And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain (Possessions) brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. And Abel (Vanity), he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel (Vanity) and to his offering: But unto Cain (Possessions) and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain (Possessions) was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
And the LORD said unto Cain (Possessions), Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. And Cain (Possessions) talked with Abel ( Vanity) his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain (Possessions) rose up against Abel ( Vanity) his brother, and slew him. And the LORD said unto Cain (Possessions), Where is Abel ( Vanity) thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground (the population). (this reflects the population’s need for religion). And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. Ge:4:1-12:
Abel (Vanity) - a keeper of sheep - the shepherd and his flock offered a sacrifice to the Lord and is blessed because of it. The Bible tells us that this sacrifice is the 'firstlings of the flock'. Does this mean the church sacrifices children? Not really. The sacrifice that a zealous following make, even today, is the sacrifice of reason. In order to bolster their faith they make it immovable in their head. This process often makes it necessary to have fixed ideas about certain things so typical in fundamentalist doctrines. The believer becomes unwilling to question his doctrine for fear of blasphemy. Such a doctrine creates and sustains a wealthy income for the religion through tithing a populous held captive in the fear of being damned eternally. Naturally, Abel's offering is blessed by God because he has a devoted congregation totally dedicated to the ideal. By contrast the Lord showed no favour to Cain's (Possessions) offering of the “Fruit of the Ground" which is the product of the people, their reasoning, questioning and doubting. How could the Lord bless an atheist attitude? Just as the attitude does not acknowledge God, the Lord does not acknowledge the attitude. There can be no blessings from the Lord e.g. the comfort of the shroud which belief induces. Perhaps Cain also indicates a certain self-indulgence and decadence typical of a materialistic attitude. In today’s terms, Cain (evolution theory) and Abel (creation theory) are still with us, struggling one against the other to win favour over the minds of the population. Cain slew Abel; how? The Bible said they talked! Cain slew Abel with words.
And Cain (Possessions) talked with Abel (Vanity) his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain (Possessions) rose up against Abel (Vanity) his brother, and slew him. Ge:4:8:
It is easy to imagine this when one realises that the larger part of the population is agnostic, not unlike Cain. It seems that Abel just became very much outnumbered. He became a minority group whose blood (spiritual life or energy) calls out from the dust of the ground (mankind), just as it does today.
It is also interesting to note that the Lord replaced Abel with Seth (Substitute).
And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth (Substitute): For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. Gen:4:25:
It is also mindful to discover that Seth was one of the major religions of Upper Egypt dating back as far as the fourth century B.C. and it is thought by many scholars that the Egyptian Seth is the same Seth represented in the Bible. So we see that Seth also represented a religion as did Abel.
