Chapter 13: Jacob’s Trouble

Let us next look at what will happen on earth once the Church is removed.

The Bible provides several clues to the conditions on earth, once the Church departs. There are many passages in the prophets where the woman in travail marker is associated with this time and used to describe what will happen on earth when this sign comes to pass. Keep in mind that during this time there will be hybrid beings on earth that will oppress humanity to the fullest extent. They are described as an “ancient nation”, “mighty men” “having an unknown language” – you can also find hints to these described in the passages below:

Isa 5:25 Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. 6 And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly: 27 None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken: 28 Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses' hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind: 29 Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safe, and none shall deliver it. 30 And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.

Isa 13:3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness. 4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle. 5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land. 6 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. 7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt: 8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. 9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. 10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. 11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. 12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. 13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger. 14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land. 15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. 16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished. 17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it. 18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.

Isa 17:4  And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean. 5 And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim. 6 Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel. 7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel. 8 And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images. 9 In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation. 10 Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips: 11  In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.

Isa 21:1 The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land. 2 A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease. 3 Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it. 4 My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me.

Isa 26:16 LORD, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them. 17 Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O LORD. 18 We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen. 19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. 20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. 21 For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

Jer 5:11  For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the LORD. 12 They have belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine: 13 And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them. 14 Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them. 15 Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say. 16 Their quiver is as an open sepulchre, they are all mighty men. 17 And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.

Jer 30:4  And these are the words that the LORD spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah. 5 For thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace. 6 Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness? 7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. 8 For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him:

Joe 1:5  Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth. 6 For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion. 7 He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white. 8 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.

Joe 2:1  Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; 2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. 3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them. 4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. 5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array. 6 Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness. 7 They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: 8 Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded. 9 They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief. 10 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: 11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

Rev 9:1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. 3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. 5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. 6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. 7 And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. 8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. 9 And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. 10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. 11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

The passages above describe some of the events that will occur after God has removed his church from earth. They are dreadful and will lead to only the remnant of Israel, who is protected by God to remain alive on earth at the end of it.

The entire world will be in chaos and people will be in fear as have never before been experienced on earth. When the Rapture occurs, people will not know what happened and whether a similar event would happen again. There will be lots of casualties on the day of the Rapture as a sudden disappearance of people will inadvertently lead to accidents, fatalities and destruction all over the world. What is further strange is the mention of Dead men that will live in the day of the celestial sign. Graves will be opened and people that were dead will be raised and will join those who are alive in meeting the Lord in the air. This would be a truly strange site to see for those that witness it and remain behind.

In all of the chaos, a leader will then emerge as the saviour of the world very soon after this event and will provide compelling reasons for what just happened and the mass disappearance of people. He will also focus his attention on Israel and establish a peace agreement between Israel and other nations for a period of 7 years.

This leader will most likely be a hybrid being – someone who looks human but will have superhuman abilities. He will be a mix between the seed of man and that of Satan based on the prophecy given by Daniel in chapter 2:43 as was discussed previously.

He will be able to capture audiences with well spoken diplomacy, but through his diplomacy he will destroy nations. He will enable Israel to rebuild the Temple and reinstate the sacrificial system and this will convince Israel that he is their long-awaited Messiah. Three and a half years into this period, the Temple will be finished and he will set himself up to be worshiped in Israel’s Temple. This will be the marker that would indicate that the destruction of two thirds of the nation of Israel is about to occur – those who do not heed this warning will perish. At some point during his rule – most likely close the 3.5 year mark, there will be an assassination attempt where the Antichrist will receive a deadly head wound that would lead to his death, but he will come back to life filled with Satan’s spirit – imitating Yeshuah’s resurrection to the world’s amazement. After this the antichrist will no longer have the use of his right eye and right arm:

Zec 11:17  Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.

When we consider the impact of the celestial object known as the Great Red Dragon on the earth, there will be a significant impact. The earth will be pounded by asteroids/meteors of significant size that would lead to death and destruction all over the earth, when the earth passes through the tail of this object. The gravitational- and magnetic influence that this rogue planet/system will have on earth will be something that has never been seen before. Massive earthquakes and tsunamis will occur all over the world. The “Red Dragon’s” influence on the earth will lead to an acceleration of the earth’s rotation around its own axis. Days will be shortened from 24 hours to only 16 hours. Most likely as a result of a very large asteroid impact. This is seen in the passage below:

Rev 8:12  And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.

This shortening of the length of days during the Great Tribulation is also supported by God’s words to John and prophesied in the Old Testament:

Pro 10:27  The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

Mar 13:20  And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

You can probably imagine what kind of forces would be needed to speed up the earth’s rotation so that days would be 8 hours shorter.

In Daniel we have a further reference to this situation and how the Antichrist will deal with this and when this event will occur:

Dan 7:25  And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

This passage also points out at what point the changes will occur. Midway through the 7-year period is when the length of the days will change. What exactly will cause the increase in the Earth’s rotational speed is not known, but that the earth’s rotational speed will increase, is sure.

Another aspect that I find fascinating is the fact that animal’s behaviour will change. Currently, animals have a natural fear for people and this is easy to see when driving around in a car. When you drive in a car, you can almost drive over birds in the road, without them flying away. But get out of the car and try to walk toward the same bird in the road and it will fly away with a substantial distance between you and the bird still remaining. God also stated in Genesis that he has put the fear of man upon the animals.

Gen 9:2  And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.

This fear will be removed during the 7-year period and man will no longer be safe. Animals that used to fear man will now attack without warning and will have no fear of man.

Rev 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Have you ever thought about why there are so many movies and series these days about Zombies? This is also a phenomenon that will stick its ugly head out during the Great Tribulation. People will long to die, but will not be allowed to die. More to the point, when people die today, their soul and spirit leave their body. During the Great Tribulation there will be a period of 5 months during which people whose bodies should have been disconnected from their soul and spirit will remain connected after they died. People will remain alive even when their bodies should not be physically able to support them as is the case today.

Rev 9:5  And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. 6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

We also see from prophecies in Isaiah hints to this aspect that will form part of this period:

Isa 26:21  For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

There are also various passages in the books of the prophets in the Bible that describe those who will be waging war against people who are still on earth at that time. These are described in a similar way as those who lived in Noah’s day. They are called “mighty men” which also refer to the human-fallen angel hybrid creatures as shown below:

Jer 5:15  Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.

The passage above tells of an ancient and mighty nation that will come upon earth whose language will be unknown. This is interesting as today we can interpret all languages. To have a new language that nobody knows would be like having an alien race arrive and this is what will happen: An ancient race of hybrid beings – part human, part something else – will occupy the earth and will wage war against humanity under the leadership of Satan. They are called “mighty men” and this is usually used to refer to the Nephilim or hybrid species that are also spoken of in Genesis 6. They will be cruel and ruthless and strong and will not accept bribes or have any concern for people that they will kill.

It is quite intriguing is the fact that Damascus’ destruction seems to be lining up with the Rapture of the Church. We see in more than one passage that Damascus’ complete destruction is associated with a change in harvest where the gleaning grapes are left after Damascus is destroyed. Once again we have the woman in travail and sorrows marker that are associated with this city’s destruction. Below are some passages that point to this:

Jer 49:23 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet. 24 Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.

Isa 17:1  The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. 2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid. 3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts. 4 And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.

Isa 17:14  And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.

I think you will agree with me that the time ahead as described in God’s Word will be a truly fearful period of time. God had to shorten the days to ensure that some flesh will remain to inhabit the 1,000 year rule that will follow.

Those who believe that we are currently in the Tribulation period and that some of the seals have already been opened, have in my opinion, no idea of what is installed for this world once the Rapture occurs. It will be a time as never seen before on Earth and there is not going to be any normality about it as we have today. These views are also deviating from God’s Word where it is clear that the very first thing to occur would be for the Time of Sorrows to provide signs and measurable indicators that the End-Time is about to commence. The End-Time will then start with the rapture of God’s Church from earth and the first seal that is mentioned in Revelation, opened almost immediately thereafter, to reveal the identity of the Antichrist.
