Have you ever thought about when God found Moses on the "backside of the desert"? What happened when God told Moses that He had chosen him (Moses) to be the deliverer of the people of Israel. Moses immediately offered excuses as to why he could not fulfill the task. Moses says to God, "I am not worthy for the task." (Ex. 3:11) God answers him and says, "Certainly, I will be with thee..." (Ex. 3:12) Isn't that amazing? You may think Moses was being humble, but he was really displaying his lack of faith. How often do we do the same thing? God tells us to do certain things in His Word and we respond in the very same way instead of believing that "with God all things are possible"? (Mark 19:27) Surely if God can save your soul from Hell, then He can enable you to share the Gospel.
The second excuse that Moses comes up with is "I do not know what to say. I don't know enough. I don't even know Your name". In verse thirteen, He says, "What shall I say unto them?" God answers and simply says, "I AM THAT I AM". (Ex. 3:14) If you study the words there, you will see that it was none other than Jesus Christ that Moses was speaking to! THAT was to be Moses' first message to the people. He was to say, "I AM hath sent me unto you." (v14) I find that fascinating it the Gospel begins with the NAME of Jesus. When you speak to others, just tell them about HIM. "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:12) Another very interesting part of the story is found in verse seven. It says, "And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows". Think of that! The God of Heaven had heard their cry! They had been crying for 400 LONG years for deliverance! Have you ever felt like God wasn't listening? Deliverance may not come when we want it to or when we expect it to. Keep praying because God IS listening!
The Deliverer came one day. He was born in a manger. He had a following of disciples who led a simple life. He was poor and lowly. He was crucified for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. He died for you and I. Three days later He arose from the tomb! He, our Deliverer, is ALIVE AND WELL! He still delivers all who will come to Him. (Jn 6:37) I hope and pray you are trusting in Him today!
