Chapter 7

The Almighty God and Everlasting Father

6 For unto us Child is born, Unto us Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder.   And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isa. 9:6)

A Child is Born, A Son is Given

Isaiah 9:6 is one of the most well-known passages in Scripture The key to answering the question of the title of this book is this first part of verse 6 Who is this child that is born Who is this Son who is given? Whoever this Person is will be the one who is referred to in the rest of thesverses.   Lets movbackwards in Isaiah a couple of chapters to get more information regarding this Child.

14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. (Isa. 7:14)

This Son or Child spoken of will have a miraculous conception for the Child's  mother will conceive as a virgin. His name will be called Immanuel which means God with us. Therefore thiChild is being called God What else do the Old Testament Scriptures tell us about this Child?

2 " But you, BethleheEphrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to b Rule i Israel Whos going fort ar fro o old, From everlasting." (Micah 5:2)

This Child who would be born in Bethlehem would be eternal His goings forth is from everlasting.

It is clear beyond a doubt that these prophecies were all fulfilled in Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
