Month of September
A True Partnership
Aaron
Scripture: Exodus 4:27
And the Lord said to Aaron, "Go into the wilderness to meet Moses." So he went and met him on the mountain of God, and kissed him
Lesson Objective: To understand the importance of serving God with others.
Some people go through life as if they can do it all without the aid of others. However successful individuals learn the importance of surrounding themselves with individuals who understand that a group can accomplish much more together then they can ever accomplish separately. The beauty of the Church is that everyone has a gift that is just as important as any other and is necessary for the body to fulfill the will of God in building the kingdom. God expects us to work together in true partnership with no one more important than another.
Thought for today: Ecclesiastes 4:9 Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor
Creating a Legacy
Abel
Scripture: Hebrews 11:4
By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks
Lesson Objective: To understand our lives will serve as a lesson to those who come after us.
We often hear the term legacy. For many this means leaving money or property for others to inherit after their death. However more important than money or property is the examples that we leave for others to follow. The impact that we have on making a difference in the lives of others is the only really true legacy for Christians. Christ our example is remembered for not how much money he accumulated but the example that he set for us which still rings more than 2000 years after his death on the cross and resurrection.
Thought for today: At your funeral, will you be remembered for the money you made or the life that you lived?
The Better Half Abigail
God Provides Words for Us
A
Scripture: 1 Samuel 25:3
The name of the man was Nabal, and the name of his wife Abigail. And she was a woman of good understanding and beautiful appearance; but the man was harsh and evil in his doings. And he was of the house of Caleb
Lesson Objective: To understand that a good and sprit filled spouse can make a true difference.
Often times individuals get married without spiritual counseling and the marriage ends up being one where the two are unequally yoked. While this is not what God wants for us, all is not loss. 1 Corinthians 7:16 says “For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife”? It is imperative that the Christian spouse be a real example for the other. This does not mean judgmental but treating the other in the same manner as prescribed by the Bible. This consistent biblical behavior is the best way to demonstrate God’s love and how that love in manifested in the marriage.
Thought for today: Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. 1 Corinthians 7:3
