Possible Solutions.
We have several options...
a) Edit the Koran
The problem with Islam is the doctrine, the Koran, and if we fix the doctrine, we fix the problem. Fixing the doctrine, or taming it, would take away the excuse by religious Extremists and Terrorists that the acts they do is in the name of religion, in the name of Allah. If they continue to do these Barbaric acts, it must be out of their own madness or sheer greed for power or for their evil purpose.
It would perhaps take all the Imams in the world to agree, then the editing done, all previous Korans destroyed or instructed to be destroyed, and the new edited Koran distributed to all Muslims all over the word. Maybe call it the New Koran ( much like the New Testament ).
b) Regulate the Religion Strictly
Make it mandatory any teaching of Islam to be done only by qualified and certified guru or teacher. These teachers are of course taught and trained on how to handle the severe clauses and verses in the Koran inciting murder, stonings etc, the so called satanic verses.
This has the added advantage that abuse of the religion can also be kept in check if done well. Like using the verses in the Koran as "magic spells" and suggesting magic or cure can be achieved using certain verses in the Koran. Sheer nonsense. One may argue that for psychogenic illnesses and cases, they do work, but to that I say "prevention is better than cure". Preventing people believing in nonsense is better.
c) Copy the Progressive Christian Solution
Take not the Koran literally and as an infallible document. Muslims must accept that is it human complied, that there could be errors, and that it was meant as a mere guidance in ones life, not as a rule of life, and certainly not as a national or state law !
Or any combination of the above, as long as there is good positive results and as long as it works. Of course there are very many other tools and help needed. There must be budget allocations, time, marketing, management, even Science, but remember all and any what you do to help salvage the real Islam, in this rotten despicable Islam environment today, help saves lives. Even if you help save one life, that ought to earn you a trophy. Helping mend this religion would indeed save thousands if not millions of lives. The damage done by Islam today is common knowledge and is all in the news that if you do not know or deny it, you must surely be an Islamist. It is as simple as that.
