This step can be tough for many people because we sometimes find it difficult to find fault in ourselves. We can easily cast the blame to other people while portraying ourselves as angels. None of us are without sin. You have 2 choices here and both are OK. You can either think of things that you have done recently or in the past that would be considered a sin or you can generally ask for forgiveness, as everything might not come to you at the time of prayer. Simply say something like ‘’Forgive me lord for any sins that I have committed, it was not my intention to anger or sadden you’’. Follow that with a short prayer for forgiveness and just like that you are forgiven. It truly is amazing. The reason you need to ask for forgiveness is that before you can request any blessings from God you need to clean yourself. Imagine you required something from your friend who you had hurt in the past, do you think they would give it to you before you apologised for what you had done in the past? I don’t think they would. God is no different. Yes, he loves you unconditionally but he also wants you to be humble and person enough to own up to your mistakes and wrong doings while taking account of your actions. As with every step, this prayer needs to be said every day and it will truly help with keeping you clean and also keeping you conscious of your wrong doings. Say it even if you don’t think you have done anything wrong. You are now clean and absolved of any sins of your past and you are in the best position to request a favour from God.
